Old-Fashioned Poker Night

Well I don't have any pictures from my camera of this fantastic night, but Steph does. So until I obtain copies of those pictures there won't be any posted on my blog. Until then I will still fill you in on what we did last night. Here is a little background first: about a month ago Steph and I went to our friend Tanner's house to play games. One of those games included Texas Hold 'Em. Well that night we decided that we would love to get together again and have an old-fashioned poker night where we dress up in dresses and tuxes! Which is what we did. Last night Steph and I got in our dresses and did our hair all curly and joined the boys in their tuxes. The people who were to attend weren't able to, so a few other people came in their stead. They brought candy to use instead of poker chips. Some other people came late, but they weren't dressed up, which made me sad. So, Steph and I won quite a bit of candy, but I was the only one to end up taking them home with me. We did play a bit with poker chips, which just makes the game all the more fun and authentic. The night turned out great, however, we are planning another old-fashioned poker night with limitations. :)

Just An Update....

Show Me The True-Blooded Aggie From Utah!

julie and i first got in line at 2 that afternoon. it was so freaking cold. during the afternoon while the sun was shining it was still a little bit nippy. once the sun started going down, dang did it get cold! finally at six they opened the doors! so many people were at the front of the line already, most likely from butting, we didnt have a bad spot in line, but after all those butt-ers we had a hard time finding seats. all that time waiting in the cold was practically wasted! people werent allowed to save seats so we quickly took some people's seats. anyways so it was a great game! a great crowd! aggie basketball is my favorite! UTAH STATE HEY AGGIES ALL THE WAY! GO AGGIES GO AGGIES! HEY! HEY! HEY!

wahoo last week!

so its my last week of classes! WAHOO!!! finals are next week... boo. anyways so thanksgiving break was good, it was nice to just relax and hang out with the family and also see some old friends :) things with friends didnt go exactly how i expected, i messed up in a few areas, and payed for it dearly. i thought i had lost my best friend for good, but we talked things through and things are a lot better now! :)i hate losing friends, but i love getting them back! it was fun seeing lots of my friends at one of our dear friend's mission farewell! and im so freaking excited for this wednesday because there's a basketball game and my friends from the rival school are coming up to it! i cant wait to see them! :D also if some of my blogs dont make sense to you at all, no need to worry! just know that i love to listen to music and find songs/lyrics that relate to my life. when i find some i start thinking about lots of things and i just have to write them somewhere! i have my music and lyrics notebook, but sometimes they'll end up on my blog or facebook :) so ya... there's my little disclaimer on that subject. anyways ive got lots to do this week getting ready for the end of semester so toodles!! :D

past, present, future

so lately ive been rereading some of my old journal entries. its amazing how things change so much over such a short time. this particular journal i started in november of 2008. i dont write everyday, but i did pretty good over the last year. anyways, so there are specific things i was rereading today, things i had forgotten about, things that have changed drastically. some entries from last summer stuck out to me because they parallel how i feel right now about some things. its funny how life does that to you sometimes. reading these entries brings back lots of memories, i remember how i felt those days, what i was thinking, what i was wishing were different. too many times do i wish i could go back and change things. but i cant. its too late. i can only make for a better future by learning from my past experiences. ive been pondering a lot about the future lately and there are so many things i want to happen and i just want to get to that point of time NOW. but there's no way to do that of course. i just got to live each day and keep moving forward till i get to that day. we all have dreams, we all wish for better and newer things to happen to us. i daydream a lot. as i walk around campus i daydream and hope for something exciting to happen. like maybe someone will be around the corner and surprise me, or come up from behind me and give me a big hug. it never happens though. i want to go back to the way things were. i made a choice and followed through with it. sometimes i wonder why i did that. can't i just change my mind and go back to the way things were? no. it doesnt work that way. i must face the consequences of my actions. not all consequences are bad, keep that in mind. did i make the right choice? i feel that i did. but there are just those times when i feel so alone. and then i wonder if what i did really was for the best. i dont know why i beat myself up over these things, but it just happens. i will try to make for a better future. things are so much better and they just keep getting better, and im grateful for that. chin up!

boring.

well, its official. Logan is boring. especially in winter! so this weekend has been long and boring. friday me and steph didnt want to be stuck at our dorm all night so we went and looked around at stores in the mall and around town. neither of us have money, so that helped a little. then we went to a 3-dollar movie at the discount theater, The Invention of Lying. it was good. funny. kinda weird. later that night kristin and spencer came over and played Imaginiff with us, that was nice seeing those guys. saturday we slept in for quite awhile. we sat around doing nothing pretty much all day. i made breadsticks though. we watched Chocolat- which made my crave chocolate real bad. steph left for a concert and didnt get back till later that night. Me, Julie, and Chelsie were bored. we watched the Jazz game! then Julie's friends Ben and Isaac came over and we watched Get Smart! funny movie! ya... what an eventful night. after people left me and julie did something that i cant say on here :) and then when steph got back we watched a movie. went to bed around 3. woke up this morning at 1130 and got ready for church. we havent been doing much since. we made dinner. now we're just chilling. im in my room by myself because sometimes i just like to be alone and do things. so thats what im going to go do now... be alone with my thoughts some more :) tata

Music and Lyrics

so just started a new notebook. it's called Music and Lyrics. it's a notebook for all those little song lyrics that stick out to me whenever i am listening to a song. so i write them down in my notebook and date them so i can remember them :) here's a picture of my cool notebook ...

a week has gone by...

this past week is such a blur. i cant believe i went without blogging for over a week! it really has been a crazy week. it was like a roller coaster. i had so many ups and downs that it was starting to give me whiplash! but its a new week and things are going to be better. but other than a crazy week, im doing great! last weekend i got to spend some time with my sister! we had a sister date on friday! we rented movies from top hat, got food from spanky's, and dessert from yogurt stop! twas so much fun! on saturday we went to the DI to look at books! then we looked at old picture frames! we found some really good ones and we took them home and painted them while watching Beauty and the Beast! and then on sunday it was my cousin's farewell and i got to see tons of my extended family! and then my niece and nephews were so cute! haha :)

Petsmart Adventure

Me, Steph, and Linz went to Petsmart on friday too! we went to look at the kitties that are there available to adopt. well that was a bad idea from the start! i love kitties so much! they had some really cute ones there at the store! i wanted so badly to adopt them all and bring them back with me to my dorm! well we know that that wouldnt work...! so i decided that i wouldnt mind being the "cat lady" someday! but i'll have a husband and kids of course! so i wont be the real "cat lady"! but i just love kitties so much and i wouldnt mind having lots of them! also at Petsmart i bought some rocks to put in my fish, Charlie's little tank! he loves them! also, Steph bought a betta fish too! heehee

Another Firehouse Adventure

Time for another Firehouse Adventure!! so friday, steph, linz, and i went and got some pizza! we had a cute waiter so we decided to write a few love notes on the receipt before we left. so we did. we were going to come back with julie and chelsie to get fh'zookies so we didnt get dessert then. well we told julie and chels about the waiter, they kept saying how funny it would be if we got the same waiter. well guess what happend... we got the same waiter! what are the odds!? haha of course the waiter recognized us! he go a little flustered.. it was funny. haha it was so fun though! man... now i am craving a fh'zookie... :)

so i didnt have anything to do today. i watched my Charlie's Angels movie in my laziness. then i felt too lazy and looked around my dorm and noticed how dirty it was. so i retrieved the vacuum from the hall closet and i vacuumed my whole dorm. then i swept the floors. then i cleaned off the counter. then i put the clean dishes away. then i took out the garbages and recycling. for my facebook status today i put: "Marlee Haywood is in one of her moods where she has to clean everything in sight. good news?: the apartment is clean. bad news?: she's been alone and in sweats all day." lol i thought my status clever. but seriously, after watching my movie i cranked up my music and danced around my dorm while i cleaned! it was fun! it was exactly what i needed because the last couple days havent been so happy-making. anyways, my next post will be about what i did this evening involving leaves and wonderment. :)

inspirational words!

so today i had the opportunity to hear President Uchtdorf in a CES fireside. his words brought joy and comfort to my heart. i wrote as much as i could in the notebook i brought with me. his message was an answer to my prayers. when i got home i had a message from a dear friend of mine, after his message he told me to watch a video of a talk by an Elder Busche on youtube. so i pressed the play button and listened to the video. i grabbed the nearest notebook and wrote down everything he said so that i can go back and review his awesome advice. his words were also an answer to my prayers. its amazing how after waiting for so long for your prayers to be answered, that they are answered all at once! it is such a great feeling! i am so happy right now, you dont even know. :)

Brown.

so yesterday a realization came to me: i wear a lot of brown. my ensemble yesterday consisted of a brown long sleeve shirt, brown Rocket Dog shoes, brown trench coat, and a brown hat. oh and i have brown hair! crazy... and today im wearing a different brown shirt.... i gotta get a new color.

two things i wanna talk about

1. i find it funny when people take the elevator to the 2nd floor. its understandable if you live in the 4th or 5th floors, like i do, but the 2nd?! just walk the one freaking flight of stairs instead of riding the elevator and making everyone else wait while the elevator goes up one story and has to stop and wait for that lazy 2nd floor person. goodness... some people's children...

2. so most of the snow on the ground has melted up here today. however, there is still a little bit in the trees. well let me tell you story about when i was walking on campus today and whenever i walked under a tree snow either fell on my face or cold water dripped on my head. ...oh. i just told you the story. lol.

blech. snow.

so it snowed today here in logan. surprise? not really. its logan. so i woke up this morning and looked out the window and what did i see? (lol). i groaned and fell back into my bed and stayed there in the fetal position, hoping that if i looked out the window again that it would all go away. well my wish didnt come true. it actually snowed MORE! snow is pretty and all. but NOT in october for goodness sakes! ifs its december then its fine. heck it can even wait till december 23! i know ive said that already. but i just felt that i needed to restate it in this post about snow. my friend steven thinks he can convert me to a snow lover. thats definately not happening!! haha! i cant wait till i finish up my 4 years here at school so i can move to St George where its hot and sunny! :D

once upon a time, i was driving through sardine canyon, on my way back to logan. there's only two lanes all the way through the canyon. so i usually drive in the left lane because i like to go fast! there was a stupid subaru driving through the canyon too. this subaru kept switching lanes without signalling. who does that?! ugh it was bugging me so bad. i kept calling him an idiot. yes, i have road rage, get over it. so finally i got past him, gave him a dirty look, and i didnt have to be bothered with him anymore. the end.

the moral of this story: i am craving chocolate coated, peanut covered bananas

Firehouse Adventure

There's just something about going to a restaurant and getting the little kid's menus and coloring them with crayons. That is what we did when we went to Firehouse tonight. Once the FH'Zookie came we forgot all about the crayons and our childish pleasures and dug into the life-changing deliciousness of a cookie + ice cream + english toffee. That ='s our complete happiness.

Autumn in Logan

So I took these pictures on my way to class today! It is so nice out today that i decided to walk. Then i thought about all the pretty autumn colors and how i want to take pictures of them. I could have just taken them on my phone, but thats no fun! So i took my camera with me! Plus the photographer in me was dying to break free, so I just had to take pictures. I know some of these arent the best of quality, but I tried! I would have taken a lot more, but there was too many people and I dont think they would have appreciated me taking pictures of them, its too stalker-like. I want to take more pictures and I think I am going to have to go back down to campus on a Saturday or Sunday when like no one is around. Sounds like a plan! Ya! :D

just a thought...

update on my life. ...

well it has been a week since i last wrote. i guess i just havent had anything to say... weird i know because i like to write a lot. anyways so im sad to report that my roommates and i finished our Gilmore Girls seasons. it was fun watching them all together! now we watch the occasionaly episode on tv, so its nice to get our Gilmore Girls fix. so last weekend was fun being home! being able to relax (and get a lot of sleep) really helped me get better :) i went shopping with my mom and sister last friday and got some winter things for the very near winter here in Logan. its still fall up here, which is good, because im not ready for winter. people keep saying that if its going to be this cold it should just snow, well theyre wrong. the snow can wait till december. maybe even december 23. and then it can go away after new years. anyways, the fall colors here in Logan are gorgeous! it rained a bit on monday and it just made everything shine and it was so beautiful. yesterday i saw a huge leaf pile on the quad and i was so tempted to jump in it. and maybe hide in it because it would be fun to scare people. but then again who knows if there is already someone hiding in there... hahaha. so ya, today has been good so far. i went to einstein's for lunch. ya me. haha i just love rambling on and on about my life.. :) till next time!

Fall Break!

i decided i love fall break even though we only get 1 day off! really though i have thursday off too because my class is cancelled! so not only do i get to sleep in tomorrow, i get to go home earlier! this weekend is going to fantastic! thursday night im going to hang out with my momma, and then on friday im going to spend the day with my sister. friday night im going to see West Side Story at BHS. and saturday i get to spend the day with my bestest friend! :D im excited for this weekend. ya.. :)

its really tuesday today

so its our fall break this weekend. we only get friday off. the u gets this whole week off! byu doesnt get any days off. so im grateful we have at least one day! :) anyways so since its a 4 day school week, we can say that today is technically tuesday. i know its really monday, but i hate mondays. they suck. most people think so. if you're someone who likes mondays, then there is something seriously wrong with you, and i pity you. anyways so its a very pleasant thought to tell yourself that today is really tuesday and we skipped monday this week. ya... i like that thought :) and im way excited for this weekend because i get to spend friday with my sister and mommy, and saturday i get to hang out with my bestest friend in the whole world! :D this week is going to be great, i can just feel it :)

the weekend

so i love the weekend. who doesnt? haha! last night my roommate, Cid, and i watched Gilmore Girls and ordered pizza in :) ya i know that may sound pathetic on a friday night, but our excuse is that we're sick. which is true. so its not a fake excuse :) anyways so i slept in till 1130 today! crazy i know! and then we cleaned the dorm; which was much needed and now it looks oh so good! haha hopefully we can keep it clean for at least a little bit more :) then we got all cleaned up ourselves and headed off to walmart where we got some pictures, and then went to the mall. very dangerous business going to the mall... i was only going there to buy some boots, but i ended up getting shorts and sunglasses too! haha i love shopping, but i cant buy any more things for awhile cuz my next pay day isnt for a couple more weeks! so ya, thats my weekend for now. i still have tomorrow of the weekend, yay!

The Office!!

so the office episode we've all been waiting for was on tonight and it was an hour long too! :D Pam and Jim finally got married! the show was more dirty tonight than past episodes however.... but the actual wedding was so cute! pam and jim are so cute! it just makes me so happy :)

sweats!

so its definately a sweats day. im sick and im tired. wearing sweats and being all comfy was the perfect solution! so when i go back to my dorm later after classes i can go straight to my bed and take a nap and i dont have to stop and change into comfier pants since jeans are horrible to sleep in. and later i dont have to do anything because its friday tomorrow and i only have one class in which i dont have any homework due tomorrow, so yay for being lazy! so ya, there's my schpeal on sweats.

going to the doctors

i hate going to the doctors. is there really anything else i need to say? probably not, but im going to do so anyways :) so i went to the doctor's this morning to get a prescription for my sinus infection. i was so scared... im afraid that they'll strap me down and stick me with needles! my mom was telling me that this fear might be from a supressed memory. see when i was really little, i had a seizure and had to go to the emergency room. they had to check if i had menangitis so they stuck a needle in my spine. my mom had to go out of the room for this, but she told me they had to strap me down for it. thus, a supressed memory. so, thats my excuse for being afraid of the doctor and needles, and blood- but thats just because its gross. so the doctor gave me my prescription and i was off to walmart's pharmacy. i got my medicine and then also had to get some acidopholus, but i had to go back out and get that because it wasnt at walmart. so ive been on the go ever since i woke up this morning at 8:30. before i went to my design history class i had to take a dose, so i whipped out my bananas from the freezer and popped a couple of pills (yes. i do need to eat a slice of banana when i swallow pills or else i cant swallow them). then i went to my class where we took a test, but the test is really easy and doesnt take that long, so i left. thats one thing i love about college tests, you can leave after you're done! currently im in the library because my next class doesnt start till 3. yay.

Clementines Vs. Oranges

first things first: they ARE different no matter what you say. in my opinion, clementines are better. they are tastier, easier to peel, and they are just so darn cute! :) i was eating an orange this morning for breakfast and it was so difficult to peel and it wasnt that juicy sweet. so then i decided that i cant wait for clementine season!! so once that time of year comes around (which should be soon!), i can guarantee that my dorm will be well stocked with those cute little orange things we call Clementines :)

So You Think You Can Dance and Glee!

so tonight is the night that So You Think You Can Dance and Glee were on!! we watched both obviously. sometimes my roommates and i can be very pathetic with our tv shows. but Glee is just so awesome. i didnt like it at first.. nor did i really care for it. but it has grown on me! i suggest you watch it too! however, go on hulu.com to start from the beginning so you know whats going on. or if you dont feel like doing that, then just watch it on wednesday nights at 8 on Fox! so after we watched these shows we just had to go and get some Aggie ice cream! so we go to the Aggie ice cream place and it is closed! so we go to the grocery story and get some Aggie ice cream there, because yes, they sell Aggie ice cream at the grocery stores, because this is logan, Aggie town! haha! anyways so we got ice cream! i got strawberry cheesecake! its yummy!

concerning Bubble Spinner

Bubble Spinner is a very addicting game. Steph introduced it to me weeks ago... and i still havent beat it. steph thought she beat it one time, but she only got past level 1. and when she did so she laughed hysterically for like 15 minutes... i cant even clear it! ugh. but im still addicted to it. its a very fun game trying to get all the bubbles and the colors are pretty! but its so freaking hard for me i guess... i cant stop playing it. i must win! so im going to stop blabbing on and on here and go play it now that ive been talking about it. haha

snow.

hmmm.. so up here in good ol' logan it snows early in the year. so it snowed a bit last week, but it didnt stick (thank goodness). this picture was taken while steph and i drove down to B-Town last wednesday for the Family Force 5 concert! the snow looked pretty so i had to take a picture of it! im just glad that it didnt stick. i mean, i love snow! but only in december and especially around Christmas! any other time of the year i HATE it. like right now. its too early for snow! where did fall go? i like fall! its fun to wear jackets and light scarves and be all cute! but we're wearing coats! its so cold in logan right now. but during the day its quite nice. i just want fall. no sratch that. i want SUMMER! summer is the best time of the year! i love not worrying about having to do anything (homework)! and you get to just be with your friends and have a grand old time! :D i miss seeing my best friend every day, now that we're in school, seperate schools i might point out, we miss each other a lot! thank goodness for weekends and holidays though! so i love how i just got off topic of snow. haha oh well! expect random tangents from me ;)

mountain dew

mountain dew. nuf said. haha so me, steph and bree are like addicted mountain dew. we always have at least a 2-liter in our fridge in our dorm. its great stuff, let me tell ya :) haha i dont drink it THAT often though, ,so there's no need to worry about the vast amount of caffeine being dumped into my body. while we're on the subject of mountain dew... my favorite is that byu doesnt have any caffeinated drinks. so, steph and i bought a 12-pack for our good friends down at byu! we of course had to smuggle it in for them! but it was grand and they better be grateful! haha so we love mountain dew up here. so feel free to bring us any. :)

p.s. i must also point out the cutness of steph's new coat! i take some credit in helping pick it out! its from zumiez! steph looks hot hot hot! WOO! hahaha

anyone have a donut for me?

so i decided that one of the things i really miss about high school... is... the donut runs we frequently had during the last few months of school! senior year is definately the best because you can do whatever you want and you can ditch classes and you dont care! haha oh wait... thats how it is in college too! my favorite thing is that college professors dont take roll! so when i have those days where i just dont feel like going to school i dont have to. sure i'll have homework, but its college! so ya i want a donut. but since im sick i probably shouldnt have a lot of sugar... so ya. there's one of my random thoughts that i just had to post. ...

so we're back from wallyworld! we made an unplanned trip to the mall before though! i bought some skinny jeans at AE, but i needed to order x-longs online so i get to have mail! i love getting clothes in the mail! :D i also got a scarf! yay for shopping! haha! then we went to walmart and got the pictures and they turned out great! yay
